About Me

Welcome to Mining for Diamonds! This is my little corner of cyberspace where I write about the many facets of my life. Some of those facets include being a wife, mom, musician, missionary, occasional teacher, aspiring writer and speaker, and now I can add “graduate student” among the facets God has shaped into my being. In this blog, I will share some of my journey with you, past, present and future! My life has been, and continues to be, quite an adventure. I could not navigate through these facets of life without putting God first in every area of my life. I’m not a preacher, but I pray that my life reflects the Light of Christ…kind of like a diamond…and that those who read my journey will desire to know not so much more of me, but more of Him.

  Why Mining for Diamonds?

I chose to call this blog “Mining for Diamonds” because that is how I see our existence in this life. Diamonds are extremely rare, and formed under very traumatic circumstances. They don’t start out looking anything like the finished product, but rather, as simple carbon deposits buried deep within the heart of the earth. It takes intense heat, pressure, and time for diamonds to form. They are almost always formed in darkness. By the time they make it through to the surface of the earth, even then, they are only in their “diamond in the rough” form.  They still must go through a process of being cut, polished and set before they become the beautiful, expensive gemstones we wear today.

In many ways, the diamond has become a metaphor for my life. When I came to faith in Christ, I began a long, arduous journey from a being simple carbon deposit to becoming a thing of incredible beauty and value. The journey has consisted at times of great darkness, intense heat, and pressure in what seems like a forever process of being formed. I am certain that I will be “in process” until the day I die, when I finally reach the end of my journey on this earth. Only then, I suspect, will I finally become the diamond I’m meant to be. In the meantime, He is taking the many facets of my “diamond in the rough” life and is using them to mold, shape, polish, and form me in such a way that every facet will reflect the glorious Light of His Son.  I hope to share some of that journey with whomever God places in my path, and, through my life, music, and writing, encourage others to allow Him to “mine the diamond” that lies within them. I would be blessed for you to join the journey with me!

  1. I love the "Mining For Diamonds" blog name and explanation! I was going to name my blog, initially, "Let's Go Mining" for very similar reasons that you've explained! But it is named "Reflections & Imperfections": just fit better for the time being. By the way, linked to your blog because of your comment at A Deeper Story!
